A new solution for 6×6 armoured vehicle building ~ At Eurosatory 2024, Texelis unveils CELERIS 6×6, its turnkey mobility solution for new 6×6 vehicles. CELERIS 6×6 aims at vehicle manufacturers willing to expand their ranges on a qualified, already-developed mobility platform, available now. French specialist of mobility solutions for armoured vehicles, Texelis launched in 2023 CELERIS, its mobility solution for 4×4 vehicles. CELERIS was based Texelis’ development of the Serval 4×4 multipurpose vehicle’s mobility system, conducted for the French Army and currently in production. The next logical step for Texelis was the 6×6 architecture, which is now available for new customers. CELERIS 6×6 is derived from CELERIS 4×4, retaining its philosophy and its main components. This enables commonality between both architectures, creating synergies and a comprehensive fleet approach between the two solutions. As part of the CELERIS process, Texelis is committed to adapting the mobility base to the exact customer requirements, helping them design the vehicle and supporting its industrialisation. CELERIS is a triple commitment: commitment to developing our partner’s very own solution on his specifications and needs, commitment on full autonomy, and commitment on support throughout the whole life cycle of the vehicle. Texelis aims at expanding CELERIS as a guarantee of performance, so that OEMs only have to say “ CELERIS inside” when presenting their new vehicles. CELERIS 6×6 comprises the CUMMINS ISL9 engine developing 275kW, the ALLISON 3200SP transmission, the POWERLINE transfer case, as well as three Texelis T750 axles. The rear axles are available with trailing arms and double wishbones options, with a rear axle steering possible in the double wishbone configuration. CELERIS 6×6 is an enabler for new 6×6 vehicles in several variants ranging from 18 to 26 tonnes. A high-performance base, CELERIS can accommodate 6×6 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP), Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV), alongside systems carriers, Self-Propelled Guns (SPGs) and other armoured and non-armoured combat or logistics systems.#military #defense #defence #militaryleakhttps://lnkd.in/g9gfY8XY

Change needs in light tactical vehicles. It is easy to sell an armored vehicle at a fair show but Battlefield makes the difference between theory and reality. The battlefield is the best bench test and being next to the combatants and technicians who are on the front line and collecting first-hand information is a must for us. Combat techniques are changing radically in the last 2 years. Although the battlefields are once again full of trenches where light armored vehicles provide protection and cover to infantry (so the side armor is very high), the appearance of vertical attacks by drones is a constant so that the light armor on the top of the vehicles is no longer valid and must be reinforced. Likewise, attacks are taking place with kamikaze drones with explosive charges on the underside of these vehicles. Consequently, the increase in armor necessary both in the upper and lower part of the vehicle causes the weights and inertias to increase to levels never seen before in the industry, already reaching 17 REAL Tons in combat order on base vehicles of 4.9 Tons. Furthermore, many manufacturers when selecting the reinforced suspension for their vehicle do not take into account the real conditions in which 6 men with their equipment, water, ammunition, etc... can contribute an extra ton to the whole (these are not words mine). There is a big difference between a company that offers engineering, development and manufacturing services for custom suspension components and a warehouse that supplies the components it has in stock and magically they are suitable for everything. It's like if a shirt manufacturer only made size M and said it fits everyone... When a vehicle is armored it is no longer the base vehicle: it is a different vehicle. If your project requires engineering services, prototype development, custom manufacturing of springs, leaf springs, sway bars, shock absorbers, axle reinforcements as well as oversized brakes, contact a company qualified to work on the development of specific components for your vehicle and be able to guarantee their capabilities on the battlefield.

I highly recommend ATRI´s solution, which we have used in some armored configurations in our territory and, furthermore, I have tried on my pickup truck, for a very simple, but effective, demo of what the solution can do.The video 📽 link below is in Spanish, but you will see some interesting tests, such as:1.Driving 🚗 in total darkness in a rural setting, dirt road, with a small waterway alongside, so there are wet areas and pockets of mud/water in this dirt road. 2.Image stabilization. Our filming was shaky, but the image itself, completely stable. 3.Different view options that allow the driver to discriminate between solid ground and potential muddy risks.4.Driving on paved roads, not being affected by incoming lights. I even flashed the high beams to incoming traffic, which really bothered everyone, but the point was to see what happened to the unit when flashed back…and the result is great…the driver will not be affected. All in all, it is the perfect solution for specialized driving, concealed driving, and for SOF units that require a covert approach. Please don´t think twice and visit my friend Andrei Krokhin, you won´t regret it!!https://lnkd.in/e4BP_3tP

abco*ck International Group (Babco*ck), the defence company, is launching its new medium wheelbase variant of the General Logistics Vehicle (GLV) at Eurosatory this week. The ‘long wheelbase’ option was launched at DSEI last year with much ongoing interest from military audiences. Babco*ck is now pleased to unveil the medium wheelbase variant, reinforcing the ‘family approach’ to base vehicles, able to deliver a range of roles and requirements. With a chassis length which enables greater off-road mobility, the medium wheelbase will allow comfortable orientation through unpredictable terrains in all weathers. Replacing the Land Rover Defender, the vehicle is based upon the Toyota Land Cruiser, but with significant re-build and enhancements. It builds upon the characteristics, performance, and core architecture of the iconic military Land Rover, whilst applying our engineering expertise and the latest technology. At just 12.6 metres, the turning circle of the medium wheelbase is the tightest available when compared to other military vehicles in its class. The medium wheelbase has four individual crew seats and storage capacity for a four-person team to comfortably stow what is required for a 72-hour patrol, making it the perfect command and control vehicle or small team patrol vehicle. The GLV family is built around the proven and reliable Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series platform and is able to fulfil a multitude of tasks for the armed forces, offering a common vehicle base with variant modules that meet the needs of different missions across multiple theatres of operation. All variants come with an automatic gear box and a powerful 2.8 litre diesel engine as well as unique military body enhancements which put crew safety and comfort to the fore. #military #defense #defence #militaryleakhttps://lnkd.in/g8wifpGV

HMMWVs are maintainable, reliable and survivable. They meet all of these requirements while incorporating new standards of reliability for combat vehicles. They score high on Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Durability (RAM-D) requirements and specifications. During initial production tests, the new vehicle proved to be nearly twice as durable as the Army required.High ground clearance is a prerequisite for superior mobility. The 16-inch ground clearance of the HMMWV is an engineering feat considering that the vehicle stands only 72 inches high. Full-time four-wheel drive, independent suspension, steep approach and departure angles, 60 percent slope-climbing, 40 percent side slope and 60-inch water-fording capabilities combine with the high ground clearance to make the HMMWV an exceptional off-road vehicle. The M998 A0 series has a curb weight of approximately 5,200 lbs., a payload of 2,500 lbs. (GVW 7,700 lbs.), and a 6.2 liter V-8 diesel engine with a three-speed automatic transmission. The current comparable model, the M1097A2, weighs only 700 lbs. more but can carry almost twice the payload at 4,400 lbs. (GVW 10,300 lbs). It has a 6.5-liter V-8 diesel with a four-speed automatic transmission. The current production Expanded Capacity Vehicle (ECV) model M1113 has a payload of 5,100 lbs. That is over 2 ½ tons, or very nearly the M1113's own weight of 6,400 lbs. The M1113 has a turbocharged 6.5-liter V-8 diesel. The up-armored variant M1114 is produced by AM General with the armor package installed by O'Gara Hess and Eisenhart. As a centerpiece of the Army's vehicular force modernization, HMMWVs are air transportable and droppable, and can be sling-loaded by helicopters. Three HMMWVs can be carried in a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft and 15 in a C-5A Galaxy. In combat conditions, the HMMWV can be delivered by the Low Altitude Parachute Extraction System without the aircraft having to land. The HMMWV has a low profile (six feet tall), a wide stance (seven feet wide) and is 15 feet long. These proportions contribute to a stable, road-hugging truck that is very difficult to roll over. This contrasts to the old M151 Jeeps that were considered unstable. The HMMWV is constructed on a steel frame with boxed frame rails and five cross members constructed from high-grade alloy steel. Once the substructure is assembled, E-coating is applied to provide additional corrosion protection. The aluminum body reduces weight and provides resistance to corrosion. Aluminum body panels are riveted and bonded together with technologically-advanced adhesives to provide additional strength. The body is designed to flex to accommodate off-road stresses. The AM General-designed geared hub assembly in the power train doubles the torque to each wheel in the hub of the wheel. This also helps achieve 16 inches of ground clearance, far more than any other vehicle in its class.

The idea of electric Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) has its share of challenges and advantages:Challenges include the need for large, high-energy-density batteries, limited availability of electricity in battle areas, and the initial drain on batteries during startup. Tanks, in particular, face challenges due to their heavy components.Advantages include the potential to replace lead-acid batteries with lithium-ion batteries to enhance silent operation and reduce heat signatures. Lighter AFVs like Armoured Personnel Carriers and Infantry Combat Vehicles are more amenable to electric power, and hybrid options may be viable. Electric AFVs offer high torque at slow speeds, enabling agility and silent movement. Wheeled ICVs with electric power have simpler drive systems, and electric ICVs can be sealed for amphibious operations. Electric AFVs are also more versatile in water propulsion. Additionally, electric and hybrid vehicles reduce the fire hazard associated with storing liquid fuels, and they typically have lower maintenance requirements compared to internal combustion engines.#ElectricAFVs #Batterychallenges #SilentOperation #HighTorque #AmphibiousAFVs #HybridVehicles #ReducedFireHazard #LowMaintenance #MilitaryTechnology #TacticalAdvantages #LithiumIonBatteries
